The 8-A EV1380 and the 4-A EV1340 are the first two members of a family of PowerSoC dc/dc converters for DDR2/DDR3 VTT applications. These low-power switch-mode converters are power systems on a chip (PowerSoC), achieving up to 94% efficiency and integrating the inductor, power switches, gate drive, controller, and loop compensation in a QFN package.
The converters feature a 1.0 to 1.8-V input and a 0.5 to 0.9-V output. The 8-A converter measures 8 x 11 x 3 mm, and the 4-A device is 10 x 5.5 x 3 mm. The EV1380 reduces power loss by >13 W over an LDO. Samples of the EV1380 are available now, with production release planned for August 2010. Samples of the EV1340 will be available in August, and the production release is planned for October. (Go to http://www.enpirion.com/SalesOffices.aspx for pricing and availability.)
